Stephen R. Vadjunec

Steve Vadjunec (Helber), 61, of Delaware, passed away January 23, 2010. Born June 1, 1948 in Youngstown, Ohio to Walter and Frances Vadjunec. Steve is preceded in death by his father, Walter; sister-in-law, Irene Vadjunec; brother-in-law, Rick Helber and his 4 legged children, Zeek, Noodle and Sam. Steve is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Deb Helber; mother, Frances Vadjunec; brothers, Carl (Daneen) Vadjunec, Sonny (Marlene) Vadjunec, Robert Vadjunec; sister, Cindy (Chuck) Pallai; mother and father-in-law, Shirley and Robert Helber; brother-in-law, Robert (Mary) Helber; sister-in-law, Ruth(Rick) Helber; nieces and nephews, Michael, Amy, Lindsay, Nicole, Shelby, Matthew, Cassandra, Stephanie, Emily, Jenny and Brittany; 4 legged or feathered “children”, Lucy, Willie, Ziggy, Abby, Celia, Wingfree and many special friends and extended family. Steve was a 1966 graduate of Rayen High School. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War, earning a Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Steve was Croatian and very proud of his heritage. He worked for steel mills around Youngstown before moving to Delaware, where he worked for Honda of America as a maintenance associate. He retired in June 2009 with 22 years of service. Steve enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing and kayaking. Steve fixed everything whether it was broken or not. Steve enjoyed spending his time with family and friends and enjoyed an occasional beer or two but what he loved most was spending time in the outer banks with his wife. He walked through our lives, a man certain of who he was and offered us his strength, courage, laughter and love. Visitation will be held 5:00-8:00PM Wednesday, January 27, 2010 and 10:00AM until 1:00PM Thursday, January 28, 2010 at the SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL 6699 N. High St. (1/2 mile south of I-270) A celebration of life and stories will be held from 1:30-4:00PM at the Conference Center at NorthPointe, 9243 Columbus Pike, Lewis Center, Ohio 43035.
