Sterling Moore

Sterling "Benny" Moore, 81, passed away February 28, 2013. He was born December 16, 1931 in Greenup, Kentucky to the late William and Eunice Moore. Benny was a proud U.S. Army Veteran and a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post 11208. Grove City Lodge 689 50 year member, Chapter, Council, and Commandry, York Rite 32nd, Aladdin Shrine, member of the Columbus Muzzleloading Club, Eastern Star, Rainbow Girls Advisory Board, past Troop 410 Scoutmaster, and a past Georgian Heights football coach. In Benny's younger days, he was a part of the Interceptors Hot Rod Club where he loved to race his car and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. Benny was also a handyman. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Gertrude Logue, June Spires, and Freda Brumfield. Benny is survived by his wife, of 53 years, Mona; children, Thom (Christine) Moore, Julie (Jim Motokai) Olson, and Mike (Colleen) Moore; grandchildren, Melissa (Ben) Fairley, Craig Swinburne, Amber Shavers, Justin Moore, Rian Moore, Christopher Olson, Holly Tyus, Camren Dingess, Tarah Olson and Brittnee Moore; great-grandchildren, Krystal Fairley and Shayla Fairley; sister, Grace Taylor; brother, Tandy Stewart; cousin, John (Marcella) Gilliam; brother-in-law, Herbert Logue, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM Monday, March 4, 2013 at the SCHOEDINGER GROVE CITY CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway Grove City with a Masonic Service at 7 PM. Funeral service will be 10 AM Tuesday with Pastor Owen Stotts officiating. Interment Sunset Cemetery.
