Steve grew up on a farm in Wapakoneta, Ohio and spent his childhood years as a boy scout, musician, student thespian, and a well-loved prankster. He eventually joined the Air Force in 1969 and then, with his new wife, Nicki King (Avera) started their lives as newlyweds in Adana, Turkey where their first child, Christina Renee, was born. The USAF took him to California where their second child, Robert Steven, was born. During these years in California, Steve achieved his bachelors degree in Civil Engineering. Steve became a respected and sought after Civil Engineer including achieving the position of State of Ohio Chief Engineer from 1987-1991. In 1997, he started his own Civil Engineering company, TriCar Ltd. Much of his work focused around many Ohio area projects including numerous local dairy farms, Maumee Bay State Park Resort, the Gahanna Creekside Trail, and the Cleveland Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inner Harbor. In 1990, Steve married Cynthia Jean Glockner. During the 22 years they were together, they enjoyed travel to exotic destinations all over the world, weekends at their Lake Erie condo, and frequent social events with friends. They also shared a strong love for their fur babies!
