

He was youngest of five children and went to Takoma Academy and earned his GED and then worked as a taxi cab driver and then as a dishwasher at Washington Sanitarium Hospital.
He met Myrna Biggs at work and married her on July 16, 1967. They had two children, Allen Roger and Jane Marie.
Steve enjoyed being an active Dad by being involved in sports with both kids and supporting their educational and vocational pursuits. He was a deacon for many years at Sligo Adventist Church and volunteered at the Community Services Center is Silver Spring. He worked for Worthington Foods (now Kellogg's) as a warehouse manager in Beltsville, Maryland and then was traffic supervisor and truck driver in Worthington, Ohio (from 1994 on). He celebrated 35 years of employment with Worthington in 2005 where he met and worked with many great people.
He enjoyed cross-country road trips with his family and made it a point to stop at historical sites and points of interest on the way like the Grand Canyon, Mt. Rushmore, and Yosemite just to name a few. He was a golfer, coin collector, and lover of history, trains and maps. He was an active member of Worthington Adventist Church from 1994 until 2010.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Allen in 1999, son Allen in March 2008 and his wife Myrna of 41 years in March 2009. He was having memory and processing issues as early as 2007 but made a huge decline after his wife died and was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2011 after many misdiagnoses. He has been cared for by great people who have become like family at Brighton Gardens in Centerville, Ohio for almost 7 years.
He is survived by his sisters Jean Dolan of Greenville, SC and Eileen Burke of Harrisonburg, VA and his brother Warren in Palm Bay, FL as well as his daughter Jane (Jim) of Bellbrook, Ohio and four grandchildren Aerlia, CJ, Roy and Shaelyn and his daughter-in-law Wanda Duncan and grandson Connor of Columbia, Maryland.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 North High Street. His funeral service will be held at 10am on Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Worthington Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 385 East Dublin Granville Road. Interment will follow at Kingwood Memorial Park. Memorial contributions in Steve's memory may be made to the church.
