
Susan A. Riley, age 49 of Amanda, died Sunday, November 1, 2009 at the Cleveland Clinic. She was born November 19, 1959 in Oregon, Ohio, the daughter of Miriam V. (Hedges) and Alfred E. Snyder.
Susan was raised in Northern Ohio; graduated Eastwood High School where she was active in the choir, flag corps and Future Teachers of America. Graduate of Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master of Arts Degree in College Student Personnel. She was a professor of Psychology, Ethics and Critical Thinking at DeVry University, where she taught for 25 years. In 2006 she received the prestigious award “The Pride of DeVry”. This honor is professional recognition of integrity, dedication and excellence. Susan enjoyed reading and the piano. She loved travelling the U.S and Europe extensively with family and her special travelling companion, her mother Miriam.
She is preceded in death by her father and her husband Michael Riley. She is survived by her mother Miriam V. Snyder of Perrysburg, Ohio; brother Marty Snyder of Genoa, Ohio; dear sisters-in-law Kathleen (Philon) Deutch of Columbus, Karen (James) Pooler of Columbus and Mary (Greg) Bailey of Nashport, Ohio; mother-in-law Rita Riley of Nashport, Ohio; many beloved nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home, 151 E. Main St., Circleville, with Pastor Gerhard Kraus and Pastor Karen Martin Kepner officiating. Family will receive friends from Noon until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
