Susan G. Warner died peacefully at home on July 18, 2022. Susan was born on February 18, 1951, the daughter of Joe and Anne Gaynor. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe Bookharnmer, daughter Mary and stepson Joe Bookhammer Jr. and Brother Pete. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, her Sister Joanne Grace, Brother Joe Gaynor, Stepsons Tony and Michael Bookhammer, and son in law Andrew White.
She was the epitome of hospitality;
What can I do for you?
What can I get for you?
Are you hungry, thirsty?
How are you feeling?
What do you need?
How can I help?
Susan was a giver and had a hard time letting people do things for her. She took great pride in her home, Lake Harley, and worked keeping the grounds neat and trimmed. She took pleasure and joy in her flowers and feeding the humming birds that visited her deck. Mary, her daughter, was the center of her life and she did everything she could possibly do to help and take care of her.
I will never forget the way that she attended to the needs of our mother in our Mother’s later years; another act of love that she passed on to Mary and those around her. Their bond was greater than anything I have ever seen. They grew up together through hard and challenging times, but their love and bond never changed.
Sue was easy to talk to even though our politics differed. I think that we got closer to Sue after her husband Joe passed in 2017. Sue was a racecar driver and Crew Chief and Navigator for the Above It All Balloon Company, before GPS. She was a special aunt to all of my children and her love for the grandchildren and all young people was so obvious in her generosity, the way she acted, and the treats she always had on hand.
Her love of people and animals was obvious in the way in which she cared for her dog Harley and any and every other pet. She endured a lot of pain and hardships in her young life and persevered to become the outstanding person we knew and loved.
Susan was definitely a people person and able to get along with just about anybody. Her husband Joe was not a people person. This quality gave Sue the ability to converse effectively and connect with people. Her willingness to help and assist others made her a true asset to AEP.
Nothing of what we have said or written is news to anybody that knew Sue. The strength of Susan can never be questioned and we can only admire the way she handled the tragic death of her husband, the terrible pain of losing her brother, and the suffering endured by her beloved Mary.
She will always be remembered for saying “I'm Fine".” We have used the term “Broken Heart” many times recently as we talked about Sue.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 PM on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221, where a memorial service will be held at 4 PM.
