

Suzanne Peters, a cherished daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to many passed away peacefully at The Inn at Summit Trail on Saturday, December 14, 2014 at the age of
82. Born in Middleport, Ohio, December 20, 1941 to John Chappelle (Chap) and Virginia (Gin) Talbott, Suzanne lived a life marked by her profound love for her family, passion for education and devotion to the simple joys of life.
A proud graduate of Barnesville High School Class of 1959, Suzanne then earned her bachelor's degree from The Ohio State University, her master's degree from the University of Dayton and her doctorate from The Ohio State University. She devoted her life to educating children spending more than 30 years teaching for Columbus City Public Schools where her commitment to her students was unparalleled. Additionally, she shared her expertise as a college professor at Capital University, inspiring future educators with her dedication and wisdom. Suzanne's passion for education extended beyond the classroom as even in her retirement she dedicated many years as a volunteer helping teach children to discover the power of reading.
Suzanne's love for nature and animals was evident in everything she did. She found great joy in birdwatching and had a special affection for all of her beloved dogs, whom she treated as her own children. They were her constant companions and always held a big part of her heart.
A devoted Ohio State Buckeye fan, Suzanne was a season ticket holder who rarely missed a football game. She also loved traveling and exploring new destinations, embracing the beauty of the world which included trips to Egypt, Australia, Morocco and an extensive exploration of the United States.
Suzanne was preceded in death by her loving parents, John Chappelle and Virginia Talbott, her brother John Wallace Talbott and her beloved aunt and uncle, Shirley and Noel Hysell.
She is survived by her sister, Kathy (Paul) Arick and devoted nieces and nephew: Danielle (Brad) Eubanks, Lindsay (Matthew) Abbott and Jared (Amanda) Arick. She was a proud and loving great aunt to Aiden and Brynn Eubanks, Hadley, Blake and Cade Abbott, and Stella and Lincoln Arick whom she supported in every endeavor they attempted.
She will be deeply missed by her close cousin, Paul (Betsy) Hysell, who provided her immeasurable support and unending love her entire life. Joining them in grief will also be her niece Michelle E. Talbott and nephew John H. Talbott, cousins Matthew (Elizabeth)Hysell, Elisabeth Hysell Hunt, Wally (Peggy) Hysell, Scott (Cathy) Hysell and Steven (Heather) Hysell and her former husband, Jay L. Peters, who remained a close friend. Suzanne will be missed by many other family and friends who will remember her as the cherished person she was.
Suzanne found joy in life's simple pleasures, like watching "It's a Wonderful Life" every Christmas season with her sister and ending her evenings with a glass of milk and a few Oreos, feeding and talking to her many bird friends, especially one crow, in her beloved backyard.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to a literacy program or an animal rescue organization of your choice which would honor her passion for both education and animals. A future celebration of her life will be scheduled with her family when the time is appropriate.
