
Teresa Ann (Murphy) Nolan, 83, of Columbus, Ohio passed away peacefully in her sleep, May 19th, 2024 at her home, surrounded by family. She was born October 8th, 1940 to the late James Woodrow and Marjorie (Pyle) Arledge, growing up in Circleville, Ohio. Her first job as a teen was at Lindsey's Bakery, home of the world's largest pumpkin pie. She married Michael Murphy on March 19th, 1959 and lived in Lancaster before moving to Whitehall, Ohio in 1964, where she raised her four children. Teresa worked hard at several jobs before finding a career with Ohio Bell. She worked as a switchboard operator, quality control lead on a parts assembly line, and later as a 411 operator.
Teresa was known to friends as Teri, she loved all things purple, enjoyed reading, watching Jeopardy and visiting her hometown of Circleville for the Pumpkin Show. She loved classic movies like Gone with the Wind, Doctor Zhivago, and An Imitation of Life, and especially enjoyed watching them on the big screen at the Ohio Theatre. She was also an avid bowler in her 30's, playing on a team at Main Lanes in Whitehall. More than anything Teresa enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She is already deeply missed.
Teresa is survived by her children, Kelly (John) Collins, Molly Murphy, Sean Murphy, and Keira (Tim) Johnley; her grandchildren, Kristen Collins (Rodney Wiles), Kevin Collins, Heather (Charles) Longsworth, Anthony Graham, Zachary Ball, Austin Ball, Paul Johnley, Madison (Seth) Gierke; her eight great-grandchildren, John and Leia Wiles, Charles, Sophia, Theodore, Isabella Longsworth, Declan Johnley and Katherine Johnley and by her siblings Drema (David) Mereness, and Sondra Arledge.
Teresa is preceded in death by her parents, a baby sister Judith Lin, and her son in law John Y. Collins. She will be buried next to John at Holy Cross Cemetery after a small graveside service, arrangements are in process. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Teresa's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
