Victoria Irene Baird, age 69, of Newark, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at her home. She was born October 17, 1955, in Syracuse, New York, to the late Theodore Eugene and Martha Alice (Foxworthy) Westervelt.
She moved with her family from New York to Connecticut and then to Columbus, Ohio, when she was 9 years old. She lived the rest of her life in central Ohio, graduating from Upper Arlington High School in 1973. She started a family soon after, and over the years took pride in raising her girls. In 2001, she became a “grammy” and loved spoiling her grandson. Not long after that, her family grew to include the Bairds when she married Scott in 2005, who brought “bonus” kids into her life. She loved hosting family gatherings and always wanted a big family, so her growing family brought her such happiness.
She had a successful career in banking, but work was always secondary to her loves in life, which were her family and close friends, her beloved dogs she had throughout the years, especially her precious “woobie” Sal, cooking, baking, crafting, watching “ghosty shows”, watching her wild birds at the feeders, listening to music, and hosting holiday gatherings..
She is survived by her husband, Scott J. Baird; daughters, Amy Elizabeth Turner (Phillip Calhoun) and Christina Anne Turner (Adam Coppola); son, Travis (Katie) Baird; grandson, Henry Coppola; sisters, Ann Wadleigh-Weetman and Edith Heppner, and dozens of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother Donn Theodore Westervelt.
She had a special place in her heart for the work of the Muscular Dystrophy Association and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Memorial contributions may be made to either in her honor.
A memorial service to celebrate Victoria’s life will be held 11 a.m. August 23 at Schoedinger Northwest 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus OH 43221, with visiting hours and reception following from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
