

Ginny (Virginia) Christopherson was born in May 1942, in Saginaw, Michigan. A violinist and noted Suzuki teacher, she devoted her life to giving the gift of music to children and their families. She had degrees from the University of Montana and did some graduate work at Northwestern University. She performed in the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, sponsored by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. She taught strings in Twin Falls, ID, Libertyville, IL and applied violin at the University of Ghana. She founded three Suzuki programs, one in New York, one at Capital University in Bexley, OH and a second in Columbus, OH. She founded and directed the Suzuki Institute at Capital for fifteen years and taught Strings in Class there. She was a Secretary for the Ohio String Teachers’ Association Board of Directors. In 2006, she was awarded the Ohio Music Teachers’ Association Certified Independent Teacher of the Year Award. She was String Chair at both local and state levels.
She is survived by her husband Larry Christopherson and two daughters, Rebecca (Becki) Christopherson and Sarah Howes, son-in-law Geoff Howes and adoring grandsons Caleb and Jacob Howes. She is also survived by three sisters, Mary Lou Smith, Carol Kugler and Ruth Kline and many nephews. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the chamber music series, Sunday@Central.
A Memorial Service will held in honor on December 28, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Christ Lutheran Church, 2314 E Main St. Bexley, OH
