

A celebration of life service for Walter F. Burch Sr., 87, will be held at Rehoboth Temple, 1111 E. Long St. Columbus, Ohio, on Friday April 9, 2010 at 1:00pm with Minister Roebuck officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Rest Cemetery.
Walter was born in Sumner Georgia on April 9, 1922 to the late Ludell Burch. Later he moved to Detroit, Michigan and from there he entered the United States Army and proudly served his country as “Private W. F. Burch” during WWII. After the war, Walter married the love of his life Stella (Rippey) Burch. They celebrated over 52 years together.
In his professional life, he became a butcher by trade and later owned his own grocery store in Columbus for 35 years “Walt’s Market” on E. Long St. As said by his family; he had the biggest heart and fed many many people. He was caring, and loving, but above all he loved his Lord Jesus Christ with all his heart.
Along with his wife Stella, survivors include; sister-in-law Glenna Logan of Columbus, brothers-in-law Wilber Rippey of Columbus, James Miller of Louisiana; niece Theresa (George)Ware of Pataskala, Nephew, Steve (Charlezetta) Veal of Columbus, cousins Johnny and Clifford Brinson, of Georgia, Maxine and Frederick of Florida. He was also survived by many other loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was known as Uncle Walt and Pa Pa to the community. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. The family would like to extend a special thank you to “spiritual son” Bishop Turner and his wife Linda Edmond; and Steve, Claudia, Felicia.
Along with his mother, Walter is also preceded in death by his son Walter F. “Butch” Burch Jr.
Visitation will be held at Rehoboth Temple on Friday from 12:00pm to 1:00pm prior to service. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Schoedinger funeral Home 229 E. State St. Columbus, Ohio.
