Walter L. "Walt" Shepherd

Walter L. "Walt" Shepherd, age 80 of Gahanna, passed away Monday, June 16, 2014. Walt was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, son of the late Frank Shepherd and Helen Dougherty. Also preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Shepherd and sister, Eleanor Pestel Underiner. Walt graduated from Central High School, Class of 1952 and retired from Ohio Bell as an engineer with over 30 years of service. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, Ohio Bell Campers, Central High School Alumni Club, and Gahanna Senior Center. He enjoyed stained glass work, golfing, and fishing, but most of all, Walt truly enjoyed spending time with family. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 59 years, Betty Lou (Feeman) Shepherd; children, Dirk Shepherd, Steve (Melissa) Shepherd, and Merri Jo (Mark) Linton; grandchildren, Brad (Tamie) Shepherd, Todd (Allison) Shepherd, Nicole Shepherd, Ambur Linton, Morgan Shepherd, and Austin Linton; 3 great grandchildren; sister, Ruth (Ann Ingalls) Shepherd; sister-in-law, Gerry Murray; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Friday, June 20, 2014 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., where family will receive friends from 3-7 P.M. Thursday.
