

Warren Simpkins, age 61, of Commercial Point, Ohio, went to be with the Lord, Monday, March 15, 2010. He was born on September 5, 1948 in Paintsville, Kentucky to Walter and Ola Simpkins. Warren spent his early childhood in Warfield, Kentucky before coming to the Columbus area. He worked for many years at Ross Labs, a division of Abbott Laboratories. Warren was a part of many activities; he was the assistant Pastor at Mt. Sterling Freewill Baptist Church where he also taught Young Adult Sunday School, played on his church’s softball team, was the head of the Youth Olympics for the Trinity Conference, participated in ministries for Courthouse Manor Nursing Home, and sang in the Lighthouse Singers Quartet along with his daughter. Warren loved reading, watching movies, guns, cars, and cartoons, especially Marvin the Martian. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Simpkins. Survivors include his loving wife of 36 years, Martha Simpkins; daughters, Janee Simpkins and her fiancé Jeremy Stephenson, Jennifer Band, and Heather Simpkins; grandsons, Warren C. “Boogie” Simpkins, and Michael Tackett; mother, Ola Simpkins; sister, Judy (Tim) Castle, and Thom (Julie) Simpkins; friend, Marvin Tackett; and many nieces, nephews, and special friends. Warren will be remembered as kind hearted, and always a gentleman. Friends may call Friday, March 19, 2010 from 5:00PM-8:00PM at the SCHOEDINGER-NORRIS CHAPEL 3920 Broadway Grove City where the funeral service will be held Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 10:00AM with visitation one hour prior.
