Dad was known to many of us as “ Red “ throughout his life. He spent his professional  life working with numbers, which he was very good at. He attended Franklin University which prepared him for his lifelong  interest in his employment field. We learned a strong work ethic  from the example set by our father, who worked many types of jobs, including, early on,  helping his father operate the family owned dry cleaner business in Marysville, Ohio. He worked at Ohio State Bank and Reynoldsburg  Bank.  He sold insurance for State Farm. He retired from AT&T as a cost analyst. After retirement, he continued to work.  He was book keeper at F.O.E. 3261. He volunteered  his time with the Shriners and worked several years at the Muirfield Tournament along with his son Kevin. Dad was a lifelong learner and avid reader who had many hobbies and interests. They include throughout his years : Pinochle and football in high school, fishing, photography, golfing, stock trading, learning technology, picking apart owners manuals to operate something new in various ways,  socializing with his many friends, and strangers that he just met, laughter , great food, but most of all he loved his family. Dad taught us to keep an open mind about ideas and people, as he explored and achieved his accomplishments. Our dad taught and encouraged us to love generously and to look for opportunities every single day to learn. If he were to have a motto it would have  been "Never Stop Learning". We are still learning from dad's legacy. He was a great teacher and listener. Dad always had a nice sense of humor for those of us that weren't on his intellectual level which was very impressive. He recognized his blessings and was a man of integrity. His desire to keep educating himself never ended. He had a generous spirit sharing his love at family gatherings. He was frequently the one behind the camera when we were growing up.Dad made the most of his life, observed by those who knew him. He lived and loved life at full throttle. He made friends easily in every room he entered. He always lit up when family came to see him. Always fiercely loyal, he kept close contact with his friends and relatives in Zanesville. Thanks to Gary and Charlotte for holding the Williams Reunions every year. He loved OSU football games. He spent time on the Planks bus along with the other Buckeye Boosters. I heard he was quite the dancer. He worked at Planks café. Him and mom went to many OSU Bowl games. His friend Ruth Pfarr said " We need more people in this world like Red ". I enjoyed being daddy's girl. He is the only one that called me " Kimber ". He taught me how to sew, using his knowledge from the dry cleaner business. He helped me with difficult homework. In early education he helped me with spelling and correct grammar, which was always important to him. He primed me for becoming a spelling bee contestant. He was  encouraging in high school when I took my science fair project to the French field house to compete. He continues to have an impact on me and I am a better person because of him. He will live on in all who were fortunate to receive his life lessons including positive thinking and eternal optimism. I remember he treasured the book titled " The Power of Positive Thinking ". Sometimes I felt that he would try very hard to understand why someone was very sad or unhappy. He was always happy with a smile.This time of the year I can always remember fond memories at Christmas time. The two of us went to Christmas Eve service together at Reynoldsburg United Methodist Church where we attended as a family. Dad would get the Christmas tree up and show us how to throw one strand of tinsel on at a time. On Christmas day he would study the owners manuals that accompanied presents. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he told us he loved us often, and demonstrated his love in too many ways to count. We will miss him dearly while we strive to honor him in the way we live our lives.

I always enjoyed visiting and chatting with Red. He was a great person and his smile and happiness was infectious! He would light up any room he would enter. He will truly be missed!

Lit a candle in memory of Wilford Williams

Red was a very special person who luckily for us befriended the Plank Family. He was so much fun on the Buckeye bus trips! He was always smiling and the life of the party. What I will always remember personally was how kind and helpful he was to me. Whenever I needed something he was there. He was a blessing in my life and I will forever cherish the great memories he gave us. God Bless Red and all his family!! We loved you so much!!

I am so sorry for your loss, Peggy (and family).   I think of you often and our days on Brauning Dr.  Good old days...and our morning coffee get togethers!  Red was always a happy guy.

I had the pleasure of working with Red at Plank's Cafe for a couple of years. He was a great man who loved life and didn't get cheated in the manner in which he lived it. He made such an impression on me that I kept in touch with him long after we went our separate ways nearly twenty years ago. I last spoke to him about a month ago and trust that he will now rest in eternal peace.
