William C. Bauer

William C. "Bill" Bauer, 87, of Circleville, passed away Monday, March 24, 2014 at his residence. He was born August 16, 1926 in Buffalo, NY, the son of William John and Henrietta (Orissia) Bauer. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 66 years, Patricia G. "Pat" Bauer on January 4, 2014; and his brother, Robert Bauer.

Bill was a WWII Navy veteran and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He retired from Dupont after 38 years of service. It was there he was given the nickname "Buffalo Bill". He had been involved with Circleville Youth Baseball and was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Soldiers Monumental Association and the Elks.

He enjoyed bowling, golfing, watching all kinds of sports, especially the Buffalo Bills, OSU Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds, Bengals and the Georgia Bulldogs. Prior to Pat's death, the two looked forward to Saturday evenings when they would make hot dogs and sit down to watch the Lawrence Welk Show together. Bill loved all kinds of German food and desserts, with ice cream and chocolate cream pie being two of his favorites for his midnight snack.

Bill is survived by his children, Deborah Lynn "Debbie" Hupp of Fairborn, Scot Alan (Barbara) Bauer of Woodstock, GA, Lorie Ann Bauer of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Jonathan (Erin) Hupp, Jillian Hupp, Meredith and Madison Bauer and Abigail Downey-Hupp; and his special canine companion, Buttons.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Circleville, with The Rev. Dr. Gerhard Kraus officiating with military honors provided by AMVETS Post 2256 Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 135 E. Mound St., Circleville, OH 43113 or AMVETS Post 2256 Honor Guard, 818 Tarlton Rd., Circleville. The family would like to give a special thanks to Danielle Congrove for the loving care she gave to both Pat and Bill and also to the Pickaway Co. Senior Center for the delivery of Meals on Wheels.
