

William H. Botkin, age 70, died May 5, 2010. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Gladys (Poole) Botkin, his wife, Margaret (Harris) Botkin, and his previous wife, Mary Kay (Brosmer) Botkin. He is survived by children Katherine (Vern) Margard of Columbus, William H. (Lisa) Botkin, II, of Cleveland, Colleen (Marcus) King of Battle Creek, MI, and Thomas (Leah) Botkin of Columbus; stepdaughter Katherine (David) Jolliff, of Jacksonville, FL; and grandchildren, Emily, Hannah and Gabriel Botkin; Christian and Isaac Margard; Casey, Jordan, and Luke Jolliff; Tonya and Katie King and Max Keeney; and Jenna and Nick Messer. Mr. Botkin was a 1957 graduate of Columbus West High School and a 1962 graduate of The Ohio State University School of Journalism. He was a member of the West High Alumni Association. He was a past president of the OSU Undergraduate Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, Sigma Delta Chi, and past president of Lane Avenue Shopping Center Merchants Associates. He was a long-time member of Luther B. Turner Lodge #732, F&AM, and Franklin County Memorial Lodge, F&AM; a former member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Columbus, and Aladdin Temple Shrine. He retired from Ross Products Division of Abbott Laboratories in 2004. He served as executive assistant to Ohio Secretary of State Ted W. Brown and was an honorary life member of the Ohio Civil Service Employees Association Local 11, AFSCME. Calling hours will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, May 10, 2010 at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Road. A Masonic Lodge of Sorrow will be held at 7:45 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home, where a funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Interment will be at Sunset Cemetery, Galloway, Ohio.
