William Drake

William E. Drake, age 77, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on June 16, 2025.

Born on October 17, 1947, Mr. Drake led a life defined by service, integrity, and a deep appreciation for both family and the natural world. He proudly served in the United States Army, embodying the values of duty, honor, and commitment that remained central to his character throughout his life.

A devoted outdoorsman, Mr. Drake found great joy in hunting, fishing, and riding his ATV. His love for nature was matched by his steadfast faith and active participation in his church community.

He is survived by his stepdaughter, Sharon Casey, his grandson, Matthew; and his great-grandchildren, Mason and Allie. He is also survived by his sister, Julia Drake Cates; his brother, George Franklin Drake, and George’s wife, Brenda; his daughter, Mary Sue; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Drake valued his family deeply and took great pride in the generations that followed him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Robert Drake; his brothers, Robert Drake, Marshall Drake, and Jimmy Drake; and his sisters, Francis Lewis and Mary Baker.

His life leaves a lasting impression of strength, humility, and dedication. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all who knew him.

Services will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Advantage by Schoedinger North, 5554 Karl Rd, Columbus, OH 43229. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 PM, with a procession to the graveside immediately afterward.
