

William A. Fields, Sr., age 97, of Columbus, died May 27, 2012 at his home. He was a block and masonry contractor for many years with Fields Brothers Masonry. Following his first retirement, he worked as a dispatcher for the City of Columbus, Maintenance Department. He was a life-long member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and was formerly a volunteer fireman for Clinton Township. William was an avid reader, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf. He is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Estella; sons, William, Jr. and Ronald; sister, Margaret Montgomery; and brothers, Vernon and Robert Fields and Joe Wooden. He is survived by children, Janice Bosley and Charles (JoAnn) Fields; daughters-in-law, Earlene Fields and Shirley Hawkins; brothers, Charles and Carl (Jean) Fields; sister-in-law, Bettye Randle; fifteen grandchildren, thirty four great grandchildren, thirteen great great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon Monday, June 4, 2012 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1535 Dewey Avenue, where friends will be received one hour prior to the service from 11:00 am to 12 Noon, Monday; interment at Evergreen Cemetery.
