

William J. Geiszler, “Just Bill”, age 89, died Thursday, December 22, 2011. Born in Columbus, OH on October 31, 1922. He was a graduate of St. Charles Preparatory School, class of 1940. He was a veteran of WWII and served with the Thirteenth Air Force in New Guinea and the Philippine Islands. He was a longtime member of St. James the Less Catholic Church. He was within one month of being a 24 year volunteer at Riverside Hospital. He took his “trip of a lifetime” with Honor Flight on November 1, 2008 and since then was an enthusiastic volunteer and avid promoter of Honor Flight Columbus. He also enjoyed playing cards several times a week at different Senior Centers and singing with the Harmonaires. He did not know a stranger and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Rose Mary (Schoppelrei) Geiszler; his father, William J. Geiszler, and his mother, Aleta P. Kirchner. He is survived by his children; William J. Geiszler, Jr. of Tellico Plains, TN, Mary Catherine “Caye” (Stephen) Clark of Lancaster, OH, Christopher N. (Elaine) Geiszler of Cleveland, OH and David G. Geiszler of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Jennifer (Scott) Ryan, Lisa (Daniel) Landis, and Rachel (Joshua) Minton, Joseph (Eryka) Geiszler, Matthew Geiszler, Christopher (Renee) Geiszler. “Grandpa the Great” to great grandchildren, Reagan and Gillian Surber, Alex and Becca Ryan, Kaylee, Gabrielle, Holden and Wyatt Landis, Lucas and Anna Minton, Braden and Conner Geiszler, Michaela, Ashley and Emily Geiszler. Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, Tuesday, December, 27, 2011 at the SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL 5554 Karl RD. There will be a rosary and prayer service at 7:30 pm on Tuesday, December 27, 2011. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at St. James the Less Catholic Church, 1652 Oakland Park Ave., Columbus, OH. Fr. Scott Kramer, Celebrant. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions in William’s memory may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, 197 East Gay St., Columbus, OH. 43215.
