William Charles “Wild Bill” Merle, age 74, passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2012. He was born in Columbus on September 12, 1937, to the late Floyd A. and Helen L. (White) Merle. Bill held several occupations over the years, from hanging drywall to driving a truck, but whatever he did, he was always hard-working and gave 100 percent. He loved to socialize and spend time with family and friends, and he enjoyed watching NASCAR and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He was a longtime member of the Gahanna Moose Lodge. Bill is survived by his daughters, Tonya (William) Moore and Angela (Steve) Blake; grandchildren, Zachary, Ashley, Elizabeth, Daniel and Dawson; siblings, Dick (Lili) White, Carolyn (David) Schirtzinger, Barbara Merle, John Merle, and Phillip Merle; nephew, Jeff (Susan) Merle; as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and wonderful friends, especially Nancy Chrysler, Greg and Terri.
