

Private services will be held for William Hamilton “Hammy” Oldfield, 89 of Granville. Hammy was born in Columbus, Ohio on December 17, 1922 to the late William H. Oldfield Sr. and Ruth (Hildebrand) Oldfield. He passed away at Flint Ridge Nursing Home on February 6, 2012.
Hammy graduated from Athens High School, Class of 1940. He attended Ohio University and obtained his pilot’s license from the OU School of Aviation. He proudly served his country in the United States Army/Air Force during World War II. Prior to retirement, he was an administrator for the State of Ohio, Division of Printing. He was a member of the Athens American Legion, Post #888.
Survivors include one sister, Sharon (L.E. “Dick”) Richardson of Newark; step-son, Jack (Melinda) Kollister of Centerville; nieces and nephews, L. E. “Ric” Richardson III, Holly B. (Gregory) Ross, Scott D. Richardson, Heather Richardson, Dr. Allison (Charles) Sacker, William H. Oldfield and David (Sharon) Oldfield; one step grandson and numerous great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Mulligan) Oldfield in 1984; and two brothers, Edward F. (Terry) Oldfield and Thomas W. (Ruth) Oldfield.
