William J. "Bill" Ritter

SGM William J. "Bill" Ritter, U.S. Army (Retired) passed away surrounded by his family on January 11, 2021. Bill was born in Jonesboro, AR to the late John Joseph and Mary Lee Ritter. He proudly served his country in the US Army for over 30 years. Following his retirement, Bill was employed by Battelle Memorial Institute with 20 years of service before retiring again. Bill's favorite occupation was that of Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather. He was a hardworking, honest family man who would give others the shirt off his back. He enjoyed travelling and researching family genealogy in his spare time. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother John Gary. Bill is survived by his wife of nearly 48 years, Else; daughter Heidi (Ron) Young; stepchildren Pia (Pulli) and Henrik Nielsen; grandchildren Jonathan (Tanya) and Nicholas Young, Jimmi, Cindy, Kristoffer, and Mathilde; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings Sandra (David), Kathy (Bob), Patty (Joe) and Donna (Dave). Bill's family will receive friends 5-7 PM Friday, January 15 at Schoedinger Grove City 3920 Broadway. Interment at a later date with Full Military Honors at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
