William Earl Schwab, hero, prankster, charmer, and all-around good guy. Bill Schwab had a “good run”. Born June 28, 1932 to parents Earl E. and Bessie E. Schwab, died February 12, 2013. Graduated from Linden-McKinley class of 1950, where he was a member of the championship baseball team. Bill proudly served as a firefighter in the Columbus Division of Fire for 31 years, retiring as lieutenant in 1984. He was a member of the #4 Unit, the Amvets, the Eagles, and proudly portrayed Santa for years for those who needed Christmas cheer. Bill loved to make golf clubs and clocks for friends. Some of his happiest times were spent on the green, but nothing brought him more joy than helping a buddy out. With his faith, generosity, and humbleness, Bill earned his place in our hearts and now in heaven. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; sister Pat and her husband, Randall Partee; sister-in-law Ruth Rhyan and brother-in-law Jim Hayes. Left to miss him dearly are his devoted wife of 62 years, Marylee (Hayes) Schwab, son John Schwab, daughter Julia (Joe) Lombardo, brother Bob (Nancy) Schwab; grandchildren Josh Schwab, Nikki (Matt) Piazza, Robert (Jenn Adkins) Lombardo, Monica (Francesco) Todisco, Brittany Vance; great grandchildren Jordan and Nikolas Schwab, Angelica Bernal, Viviana Todisco, Landon Lombardo, Dylan Vance, Isabelle and Olivia Piazza; many nieces and nephews. Special friends Dominic and Janet Julian and Bonnie Vance were among the many who loved Bill as much as he loved them. Friends may call at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Rd.
