On Monday, August 29th, 2022, a hero of the Faith, Bishop William L. Sciscoe, 83, fought the good fight and finished his race. Bishop Sciscoe was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, pastor, teacher, brother, mentor, and friend. He was widely known for his masterful messages, his compassion, his desire to give, and his ability to treat those around him the same way Jesus would. The Kingdom of God and his family were his number one priority.
He was born November 4th, 1938, in Bloomington, Indiana, a son of the late Clyde and Mary Jane (Davis) Sciscoe. Bishop Sciscoe attended Indiana University where he studied Law Enforcement and later became a Deputy Sheriff. He served his community in this capacity for about three years until he moved to Wisconsin to work with his family.
Bishop Sciscoe saw his need to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of his sins (Acts 2:38) at the age of 8 years old, but his love for the truth came years later in 1961 when he received the gift of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues (Acts 2:4). Not long after his new birth experience, he married the love of his life, Nancy, the one he didn’t want to live without.
Bishop Sciscoe’s passion was evangelism and spreading God’s word (Mark 16:15) as he traveled the world visiting at least five continents. Bishop Sciscoe was a licensed ordained minister with the United Pentecostal Church International. He was the Pastor of Bethel Tabernacle in Racine, Wisconsin for 16 years. He went on to pastor The Church Triumphant in Columbus, Ohio, formerly Pentecostal Assembly, beginning in 1991 where he later became the Bishop. Along with these areas of involvement, Bishop Sciscoe held many other positions in the organization. He served as presbyter in Wisconsin, Ohio, and as a national executive presbyter. He also served as a regional director for home missions, and both he and Bishop Chester Wright were appointed by Bro. N. A. Urshan to serve as Global Vision, previously Global Conquest, directors.
Bishop Sciscoe was a generous man, in fact, he set a goal of personally giving away a million dollars in his lifetime. Another goal of his, which he recently achieved, was to write a book entitled The Secret Place.
He will be missed immensely by his wife of 60 years, Nancy (Jordan) Sciscoe; his daughters, Julie Smucker and Jane (Bill) Pellum; his son, Jason (Kimberly) Sciscoe; his 8 grandchildren, J. Austin Smucker, Emily Smucker, Natalie (Triston) Hutchinson, Brooke Pellum, Logan Pellum, Olivia Pellum, Julianna Sciscoe, and Kaleb Sciscoe. Also survived by a sister, Norma (Robert) Stamper, and nieces, nephews; other relatives, and many friends. Besides his parents, William was preceded in death by his brother Jack Sciscoe, and son-in-law, Rev. Jerry D. Smucker, M.D..
