Announcement of death…
Wilma Jeanne Rogers peacefully passed away on January 2nd, 2024, at 5:51 p.m. She lived a full life, passing at the impressive age of 90. Jeanne was born into a loving family and grew up in the house her father built in Deer Park, Ohio.
Remembrance of a life well lived…
When Jeanne was born, her father had been out of work for four years. Her family made ends meet on $7.00 a week, living happily on the resourcefulness of her dad. Jeanne’s nature was shaped by the values instilled by her parents. She lived her life devoted to those she loved and was quick to put others’ needs in front of her own. As she grew up, her bubbly nature proved popular amongst her contemporaries. She was head cheerleader, won prom queen, and captured the heart of Wil Rogers. Following her graduation from Deer Park High School, her passion for design led her to pursue a degree in interior design from Ohio University. She eventually left school to marry Wil Rogers, who was in the Air Force and stationed in Massachusetts. The couple remained happily married for an impressive 68 years. During this time, Jeanne’s priority was the family she built. Taking after the father she adored, Jeanne worked a flurry of jobs, bringing in extra money for her growing family. She balanced her responsibilities with humility and took pride in watching her family blossom. In her later years, she became a doting grandmother to her three children’s growing families and even saw the birth of her eight great-grandchildren. Her lifelong love for the small, beautiful things in life flourished as she traveled the world to places like Spain, Paris, and Italy. After returning, she would carefully document her memories in scrapbooks that her grandchildren would marvel over for years.
Remembrance of character…
Jeanne's gentle nature endeared her to all she met. She was steadfast in her faith and a lifelong servant to her church and creator. Her kindness was matched only by her goofy sense of humor and unwavering positivity. She was known for her ability to turn a phrase and her affinity for mispronouncing words, lovingly labeled by her family as ‘Grandma Jeanne-isms.’ Jeanne was also a gifted cook. She found joy in sharing this gift with her family, and her family found joy in her world-famous pie crust. Her talent in the kitchen inspired a love of great food and great company in all her family. Above all else, Jeanne embodied strength. In the course of her 90 years on Earth, she was the Matriarch to three generations of her family. Even amid her biggest battles, she had her hair done, her nails painted, and a spirited outlook enshrined with hope for what was to come.
