ZACHARY MICHAEL DAVIS, born July 1st, 1998 in Columbus, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 27th, 2019. Survived by parents, Amy May (Jack Harris) and Tim Davis and sister, Lauren Ashleigh Davis. Zak was a 2016 graduate of Westerville North High School where he was a 3year class officer, member of the wrestling team, member of Hartley's Hawgs Fishing Club and captain of the Ultimate Frisbee team. He attended Marshall University in the fall of 2016. He most recently worked with JandM Works where he enjoyed learning the construction trade and had plans of owning his own company one day. Zak had many interests and skills. Throughout his life he participated in numerous clubs, activities and sports. Zak's early school years involved attending Hanby Magnet School where he was chosen to participate in the Westerville South production of Miracle on 34th St. Afterward, Zak attended middle school at Walnut Springs Middle School. He was a member of the football and wrestling teams. He earned the Most Improved award in wrestling during his 7th grade year. He was also a member of the fishing club where he earned trips to the state tournament two times. He also acquired a professional fishing sponsorship during middle school and was very proud to have one at such a young age. While in middle school, he was fortunate enough to work with Fishing Without Boundaries which paired young fishermen with adults and kids with disabilities to help them go out onto the water to fish. Zak loved being able to do this and was so patient and compassionate with the participants. He looked forward to doing it every year. Zak moved on to WNHS for high school and loved being a Warrior like his mom. During high school, Zak found a love of cheerleading while spending so much time at the gym with his sister, Lauren. He became a competitive cheerleader with Empire where he would earn many awards as part of a team including National Champions. Also, while at WNHS, he discovered Ultimate Frisbee. Zak absolutely loved playing and would continue to play even after graduation. He earned his Varsity letter in Ultimate and would become a team captain. During his time at WNHS, Zak was also a member of Hartley's Hawgs fishing club. In his second year in the club, Zak placed 1st in the club and went to the state tournament where he placed 17th in the state. After high school, Zak attended Marshall University where he got to experience life away from home on his own for the first time. He continued to fish, especially with his dad, and play ultimate and was never without a pole and a disc close at hand.
Zak lit up every room he walked into; he had a magnetic personality. He will be remembered for his smile, big heart, infectious laugh, and the ability to make a friend wherever he went. He will be immensely missed by those who knew and loved him, but mostly by his mother, father and sister. Fish Big Zak…..Fish Big.
