Albin was born in Yonkers, NY to James and Susan Oteri. He was drafted into the Army in 1968 and served in Aschaffenburg, Germany, a time he spoke of fondly as he made friends from all over the United States and traveled around Germany, Switzerland, and France.
He was working in his father's butcher shop, Oteri & Son, in the Bronx when he met the love of his life, Linda Pullano. They married on July 1, 1973 and moved to their home in Valley Cottage, NY. They had two children and many dogs during their 45 year marriage. "Al" as he was known to everyone, worked as a driver, trainer, and dispatcher for New York Bus Service, and later the MTA of New York City.
Albin had many passions and hobbies which connected him with friends all over the world. Cars and radios were his chief interests, Studebakers in particular. Later he managed a Facebook group called "Oteris In the World" where he communicated in Italian and English with his newfound "cugini". Locally, he had friends everywhere including neighbors, restaurant servers, and local business owners who will all miss his warm, friendly conversations.
Albin is survived by his sister Grace Oteri Tommins, daughter Danielle Oteri and son-in-law Christian Galliani, son Jamie Oteri and daughter-in-law Amelia Vega. The joy of the last 8 months of Al's life was his grandson, Enrique James Oteri-Vega, known as EJ.
Because Al received so much love and happiness from his dogs, we ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his name to the Hi-Tor Animal Care Center in Pomona, NY.
