Bernadette Bortolussi

Mrs. Bernadette Bortolussi (née Gallon) died peacefully on Thursday, April 2, 2015 in Westfield, NJ at the age of 86. Bernadette is survived by her sons John Bortolussi and wife Lori of Stuart, FL; Joseph Bortolussi and wife Lily of New York, NY; her daughters Maria Jakubek and husband Scott of Westfield, NJ; and Anne Zacharda and husband Andrew of Cranford, and her grandchildren Miranda and Tyler Jakubek, and Katie and Sophie Zacharda. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Bortolussi of Nyack, NY, her brother Emilio Gallon of Anaheim, CA, and sister Mary Krauss of Savannah, GA. Bernadette was born on July 15, 1928 in Fitchburg, MA to Joseph & Domenica Gallon. Bernadette married John Bortolussi of New York, NY on April 12, 1958. After moving to Rockland County, NY, the couple had four children. Her children remember her as a patient and loving mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals. Bernadette was a caring mother, daughter, wife, sister, and friend who loved her family and was devoted to her faith. She was an active parishioner of St. Ann's Church in Nyack, NY.For the last seven years, Bernadette was a resident of Sunrise Senior Living of Westfield, NJ. The family would like to thank all the caregivers and staff of Sunrise for their care and dedication. A wake will be held at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home in Congers, NY on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Saint Ann's Roman Catholic Church in Nyack, NY on Wednesday at 10am followed by interment at Oak Hill Cemetery, Nyack, NY.
