Grace Galasso (Grandma Gracie) 87, a 35-year resided in Valley Cottage, New York died peacefully on Christmas eve with her children and grandchildren by her side. She was born January 14, 1932 in Yonkers, NY to Frank and Angela Sardo who immigrated from Sicily, Italy in 1921. Gracie worked for the Otis Elevator Company until her marriage in 1958 to Vincent Galasso of New Rochelle, NY. Later in life, she worked for many years as the deli manager for the A&P grocery store in Hastings-on-the-Hudson, NY; however, the role she enjoyed most, was preparing and serving lunches for the children in the Nyack Schools.
She is survived by her daughter Debbie (Paul) and her husband Bob also of Valley Cottage and her son Michael Galasso from Henderson, NV. She dearly loved her three grandsons all from New City, NY; Bobby jr. and his wife Ashley; Christopher and his wife Anna, and Michael and his wife Franci. She also adored her three great granddaughters, Sophia, Charlotte and Addison.
Visiting hours will be at Higgins Funeral Home, Congers, NY on Tuesday December 29th from 3pm to 7pm. Funeral Service will be at St Paul’s Church in Congers on December 30 at 10 AM
