

Katherine (Kay) McIntyre died peacefully at home on April 23, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was 91 years old. Kay was born in West Nyack, New York to Horace and Sybil Partridge. She was raised in Haverstraw with her three sisters. She attended St. Peters School and graduated from Haverstraw High School. Kay married James McIntyre, the love of her life who was serving in the US Navy. After he completed his tour of duty, they purchased a house in Rockland Lake where they raised four children. Kay was very active in St. Michael's Church in Rockland and then in St. Paul's Church in Congers after they merged. She initiated the Legion of Mary as an outreach to the community and taught CCD to special needs children in St. Paul's parish in preparation to receive the sacraments. She was a Eucharistic minister and an over 40 year member of the St. Paul's choir. She received an associate degree in nursing from Rockland Community College and a BS degree in nursing from Dominican College. She worked at the Tolstoy Nursing Home where she was a Supervisor of Nursing. She was a compassionate and loving nurse and mother. Kay is survived by her children, Katherine (John) Mangan, Kathleen McIntyre, Christopher (Dolores) McIntyre, Peter (Eileen) McIntyre and by her grand-children, Katherine (Ed) Kobus, John (Shirley) Mangan, Killean (Eric) Arbanis, Carrie Scharb, Michael McIntyre; Michael, Aposha, Christina McIntyre; Kerry, Colleen and Kevin McIntyre and nine great-grandchildren: Brittany, John and Summer Mangan, Jack and Julia Kobus, Shane and Briana Arbanas, Emily and Clayton Scharb. She is predeceased by her husband James, her son Michael and her three sisters Francis Connor, Sybil Boland and Anne Avery. Family will receive friends on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Higgins Funeral Home in Congers. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, 11am, at St. Paul's Church followed by interment at Gethsemane Cemetery, Rockland Lake, Congers, NY.
