Donald C. Squires

Donald C. Squires, 96, of Waterloo Township, died Thursday, September 26, 2019, at Whitewater Commons Senior Living Center, Liberty. A Fayette County native, Donald was born June 7, 1923, the only child of Clyde and Ila M. Hall Squires. He was a 1941 graduate of Connersville High School and farmed land that had been in the family for over three generations. Don developed a passion for flying early in his life. His flying adventures led him on several flights to Florida as well as along the East Coast. Donald was a member of Springersville Christian Church and was an active member of Historic Connersville, Inc. He previously had served on the Fayette County Pioneer Cemetery Board and had been a member of the Connersville Elks Lodge. Donald is survived by his wife of over 70 years, the former Roberta A. Martin whom he married October 8, 1948; his children and their spouses: Stephen D. Squires and Terisa of Connersville; David M. Squires of Centerville; Diana L. Gianfagna and Richard of Richmond, Christy S. Taylor and Russell of Boone, North Carolina; eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 5 p.m. Tuesday until the time of service where memorial contributions may be made to Historic Connersville, Inc.
