Mary Ellen Jones

Longtime Connersville resident, Mary Ellen Hart Jones, 97, left this earth October 14, 2020. She was born June 3, 1923 in New Castle, Indiana to Howard Wayne and Lola Viola Taylor Hart. After graduating from New Castle High School, she married Robin Hiatt Jones on 24 Sep 1942. A devoted wife and mother, Mary Ellen worked for Farm Bureau Insurance in Connersville from 1963-1971 resigning her position with Farm Bureau when Robin went to work for them as an insurance salesman. Mary Ellen attended the Harrisburg Union Church, was a charter member of Psi Iota sorority, a member of the Culture Club, and was a faithful lady Elk. She devoted the remainder of her life to her family wanting nothing more than to see each and every one of her children, their spouses, her grandchildren, and great grandchildren “happy”. It was the constant goal of her long life. Mary Ellen leaves behind her daughter: Patti Harris and husband Danny of Connersville; grandchildren: Dennis Bret Harris and wife Barbara of North Carolina, Darrin Lee Harris of Brownsville, Scott Morgan Jones and his wife Lisa of Colorado, Rain Michelle Jones of Texas; great grandchildren: Brandon Scott Harris and Ellen Chen Jones; Daughter-in-law: Carol Jones; several nieces and nephews, and her beloved grandpuppy, Penny. In addition to her parents, Mary Ellen is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Robin, who died November 9, 2006 and her loving son, Timothy L. Jones who died on September 21, 2019. Although Mary Ellen will be missed by her family and friends, she has requested there be no funeral service. A private graveside service will be conducted to bury her ashes alongside her husband at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Elks Lodge #1307 National Foundation Fund, 223 E 3rd St, Rushville, IN 46173.
