
Opal Roe Christian, 96, formerly of Jonesboro and Conyers, GA, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at the Vitas Hospice, in McDonough. Mrs. Christian grew up in Milton County, GA, and was one of nine siblings of Curt and Flossie Roe. She retired after 25 years as an accounting manager from General Motors in 1972. She was employed by the Bell Bomber Plant (now Lockheed) in Marietta, during WWII as an electrician, doing specialized wiring on the famous B-29 bomber. She was an active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Jonesboro for many years.
Mrs. Christian was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Christian and son, Jackie W. Dinsmore. Her survivors include her daughter, Marjorie Sue Wood and husband, John, of Conyers, son, Jim H. Dinsmore and wife, Brenda, of McDonough. She is also survived by her sister, Margaret Presson, of Corpus Christi, TX and brothers, Tom Roe of Alpharetta and Herbert Roe of Conyers; seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was known by all who knew her as a kind, loving, understanding and Christian person.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 15, 2012, at Horis A. Ward’s Rockdale Chapel at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. Ted Phillips officiating. Interment will follow at Georgia Memorial Park, in Smyrna. The family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
