Ronald Bertrand Smith Sr.

Ronald B. Smith, Sr., age 80, of Conyers, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2011. Memorial services will be held, at 11:00 AM, on Thursday, May 5, 2011, at Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Conyers, with Revs. Mike and CeCe Nicolich and Rev. Don Norman officiating.

Born on October 6, 1930 in Davie County, NC, he was the son to the late, Mary (Nail) and Lonnie Harold Smith. Ronald was a member of Ebenezer UMC, Honey Creek Gold Club, American Legion Post in Stockbridge, the Senior Golf Association and retired in 1994 from Motorola. He was a US Navy veteran serving our country in the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Virginia Lutz Smith; children, Kathy Thompson of Conyers, Anne Marie Scoggins of Fayetteville, Ronald (Joyce) Smith, II, of Concord, NC; grandchildren, Andrea (Brandon) Thompson, of Denver, CO, Adam (Jill) Scoggins, of Senoia, Jana Scoggins, of Denver, CO, Josh and Jake Smith, both of Concord, NC; great-grandchildren, Kylie Scoggins of Senoia, Jaelyn Baumann, of Denver; brothers, Lonnie (Bettye) Smith, Sr., of Jacksonville, TX, Bill (Remy) Smith, of San Antonio, TX, John Frank (Hazel) Garwood, of Mocksville, NC; sisters-in-laws, Dot (Jim) Garwood, of Mocksville, NC, DeWilla (Gene) Smith, of Mocksville, NC, Sue (Herman) Haynes, of Sherrill’s Ford, NC, Linda (Quentin) Rhinehart, of Gastonia, NC, Edna (David) Lutz, of Wilmington, NC; brother in law, Claude (Sue) Lutz, of Stanley, NC and several nieces and nephews.
