

The family of John Espinoza is sad to announce that Mary Ruth Bateman Espinoza of Coolidge, Arizona, passed away on June 2, 2025, after bravely battling a lengthy illness. She was surrounded by her loving family. Born on December 23, 1953, in Tucson, Arizona, Mary was the daughter of Jay and Mary Anne Bateman of Oracle, Arizona.
She grew up in a nurturing environment, attended Oracle Elementary School, and graduated from San Manuel High School. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to Central Arizona College, Northern Arizona University, Arizona State University, and the University of Phoenix, where she earned degrees in law enforcement and counseling.
Mary is survived by her husband, John; her children, Theresa and Victor; and her stepchildren, Pam Leal (Gene) and Michael Espinoza. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her grandchildren: Dominic, Jordan, Amanda, Mikey, Gabriel, Anthony, Hunter, and Dakota, as well as eight great grandchildren. She is survived also by her sisters, Anne Livingston and Stephanie Beneitone; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Barbara Bateman; her brother, Mark Bateman; her stepdaughter, Audrey Espinoza; and her granddaughter, Brandee Espinoza. Mary was a deeply loved wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and cousin and so much more. She will always be remembered for her gentle spirit, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her family.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on June 21, at Shorty’s Venue, 145 W. Central Ave., Coolidge, Arizona.
