He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years Kathleen “Shirley” Meissner and parents Herman and Ruby Burg(Lillie). He is survived by 3 children; Ronald (Mary) Burg, Bruce (Janice) Burg and Lynette (Mitch) Moe, 7 grandchildren; Robby, Danny, David, Gregory, Lauren, Weston, Kyle, 5 great-grand children; Devon, Xander, Scout, Archer and Filip.
Dave served in the army during WWII in the Pacific theater stationed in South Korea. He attended St. Paul Bible college prior to working at the Soo Line for 21 years. He then worked for Onan Corporation and Spring Lake Park Baptist Church. Even though he was “officially” retired at 62 he kept busy with several part time jobs until the age of 87.
Dave volunteered his time and energy to family, friends and several organizations including Meals on Wheels and SLP Baptist church. He cherished the years spent at the cabin where he loved watching his grandchildren play. Dave took his last lap skiing around the lake at the age of 70. Shirley and Dave enjoyed hosting an annual family reunion at the cabin (aka “Camp David”) for over 25 years.
His love for the Lord was steadfast, unshakable and consistent until the end, always standing on the word of God and willing to share with other’s God’s love for them.
