John was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Kathy, and a proud father to his sons, John II, Jeff, and Jayd (Kari). He was a cherished papa to Shelby (Austin Nelson), Macey (Jordan) Brandt, John Benett, Seth, Weston and Kyla, and great-papa to Montgomery Jo Brandt. His presence brought strength, comfort, and steadfast love to his family.
A man of stoic nature, John showed his love through action—with his unwavering support, steady guidance, and the way he was always there when it mattered. He was a provider, a protector, and a constant source of strength for those who knew and loved him.
John had a deep passion for cars and was truly a car enthusiast at heart. He appreciated the craftsmanship, power, and detail of a well-built machine. He also found freedom on the open road as a Harley rider, embracing the peace and simplicity that came with every ride.
As a papa and great-papa, he created lasting memories through his presence, his quiet wisdom, and the love he gave so freely. His legacy will live on in the lessons he taught, the values he instilled, and the family he cherished above all else.
John proudly served in the United States Air Force. Following his service, he owned and operated John’s Texaco station. He went on to dedicate 27 years to a career with the City of New Brighton, while also working as a real estate agent. He later became the owner and operator of Just Black Top, a business he ran for 39 years. John will be remembered for his resilience, his quiet strength, and his deep, enduring love for his family.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
