Lorraine was born in New Haven, Connecticut on July 23, 1937. She lived in West Haven, CT until she was 25 years old, when her entire family moved to Burbank, California. She married Jon Karetov, who passed early in their marriage, which led her to be a strong woman who devoted her entire life to loving and supporting her three daughters as a single mother. She loved traveling and spending time with “the girls”, whether it was a day trip to the local churches for Christmas craft shows, visiting Disneyland or a weekend in Vegas, to taking an extended trip around the United States. When she retired, she relocated to Blaine, Minnesota to live close to her grandchildren. Lorraine was so proud of her family.
Lorraine loved listening to records, staying up on politics, watching Hallmark movies, reading romance novels, sewing, painting Christmas village ceramic houses, putting together jigsaw puzzles, and spending as much time as she could with her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents Anthony and Beatrice (Langlois) DeMaio, her husband Jon Karetov, and her brother-in-law Pat Amarante.
She is survived by her daughters Paula (John) Maurstad, Joann Karetov, and Cathy (Matt) Purcell; grandchildren Lauren (Andrew Torres) Purcell, Branden (Lexi) Maurstad, Courtney Purcell, Ryan Purcell, Jacob Maurstad, and Seth Karetov; siblings Marierose DeMaio Amarante and Tony DeMaio; nephews David Amarante and John Amarante; and five great nieces and nephews.
A Catholic Mass will celebrate Lorraine’s life at 11:00 on Monday, June 23, 2025 at Church of St. Timothy (707 89th Ave. N.E., Blaine). Visitation will be at 10:00 prior to the mass. Following is a luncheon. Interment will be at Morningside Memorial Gardens in Coon Rapids.
