Robert "Bob" Wayne Hix

Preceded in death by parents, Harley and Marion Hix; brothers, Michael and Ron; and grandson, Derek Evenson.

Bob was a loving husband and caring father. He retired from the Ford Motor Plant TC after over 40 years of working there. He started in the Trim Department and worked his way up to BEHR Operator. Bob was an avid golfer often spending hours on the golf course. Whenever he would lose a golf ball he would spend at least 30 minutes looking for it and usually came back with multiple golf balls. He loved golf so much that after he retired he got a job cutting grass at the local golf course - but he did that mainly to get free golf.

Bob and Valerie were married for 55 years. They met at the Credit Union where she worked. Their courtship wasn’t a long one as they got married just 5 months after getting engaged. Together they created a family and raised their four children. He was a great provider for his family, often working multiple jobs so that his family could have the experiences they had growing up. He stepped up when needed and became a coach when his kids were in sports. He would pick-up the team in the back of his Chevy Luv and drive them to the field. He would do anything for his kids. He would take us on “rides” on his motorcycle and by “rides” it meant down the alley because mom didn’t want us on that thing. That love never wavered as we became adults. He was always there for us for whatever it was that we needed. That love grew tenfold when he became a grandfather.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Valerie; children, Todd (JoAnn), Jay, Jennifer, Melissa (Rick), Matthew (Bethany), Catherine (Wade); 18 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Kathleen (Larry); and brother, Richard (Carol); and many other friends and family.

Funeral Service will be Tuesday, March 24th at Church of Saint Paul. 1740 Bunker Lake Blvd, NE, Ham Lake, MN 55304. Mass at 11:00 am, with visitation one hour prior. There will be a luncheon after Mass.
