

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, Monsignor John A. Richter will officiate. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery Soldiers Rest Section, with full military rites being conducted by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor and fire department honors will be conducted by the New Ulm Fire Department.
Visitation will be 4-8 pm Monday, July 13, 2015 with a Prayer Service preceding at 3:30 pm. Visitation will continue from 7:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home SOUTH CHAPEL.
Roger is survived by his wife, Lois Drill; daughters, Kimberly Drill, Tiffany (Shawn Hillesheim) Thedens and Jo-ell (Burton) Flitter; grandchildren, Ashley (Dan), Ryan “Fuzz” (Tatum), Tyler, Chase, Christian, Lasca; great-grandchildren, Landon, Kylan, Tyler and “Pumpkin” who is due October, 31; grand-pups, Remi and Mya; sisters and brother-in-law, Joyce Engel, and Carole and Larry Konakowitz; brothers and sister-in-law, Richard “Rocky” and Diane Lane and Floyd Drill; sisters-in-law, Arlene Drill, Mary Lou Lane and Betty Porter; he is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harvey, Denny, Ronald, Darwin and Wally; and sister, Sharon.
He was born November 5, 1943 in New Ulm to George and Audrey (Nelson) Drill. He attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School and New Ulm Public Schools. He was united in marriage to Lois Aschenbrenner on December 28, 1968 in New Ulm.
After graduating from high school, he served in the United States Navy, following his honorable discharge from the Navy, he worked at Leo Filzen/Joe Firer Masonry, Geib – Janni Lumber Company, and then as a Service Tech. for Sears, following his retirement from Sears he worked part-time at Cash Wise and the Sioux Valley Gun Club. Roger also was proud to serve 20 years with the New Ulm Fire Department on the Hook and Ladder.
He was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, American Legion Post #132, Disabled American Veterans, VFW and the Knights of Columbus.
Roger enjoyed spending time with his family, watching his grandchildren’s sporting events, singing karaoke, traveling with his wife, and in his “younger” years decorating their home at Christmas time and even winning the Christmas Decorating contest of New Ulm.
