Born on March 29, 1949, in St. Paul, MN, Wayne grew up with an interest in scouting, playing hockey, and a desire to be a police officer.
His military service was spent at Fort Leavenworth, KS, and he went on to continue to serve the public.
Wayne drove for Metro Transit, then his lengthy law enforcement career included time at the Department of Corrections, Cross Lake Police Department, and retired after 21 years with Coon Rapids Police Department.
He was a proud and longtime member of the Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, with roles ranging from president to webmaster, lasting over 32 years.
He also enjoyed being a longtime member of an Apple computer club, discussing the latest technology and trying many of the latest products.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Nellie Schwartz; and is survived by his brother, Henry (Rosemary) Schwartz Jr, and nephew, Andy (Jill) Schwartz, as well as many friends from CRPD, Blue Knights, and the computer club.
Wayne's Memorial will be held at Gearhart Funeral Home, 11275 Foley Blvd NW, Coon Rapids, MN, on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, with visitation from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, followed by the service at 10:00 am.
Wayne will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.
