

Of Anoka, formerly of Cedar, MN. Bill passed away on November 15, 2014 in his 95th year. He was born in Mountain Lake, Minnesota to Elizabeth and Herbert Cox. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Carol; son, William John Cox; great great granddaughter, Liliana Erickson; sister, Marie Highberg; and brothers, Gerald and John Cox. He will be missed by daughters, Sharon (Curtis) Johnson, and Kathleen Cox; sons, James (Judy Nelson), and Richard (Mary Ellen); 15 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; sister Mildred Gallagher; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Bill lived most of his life in Cedar where he and Carol raised their 5 children. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Bill worked in the dairy industry. One of his first jobs was at Cedar Creamery as a butter maker. At his retirement he was Quality Control Supervisor for Mid-America Dairy Association. He was an avid hunter of small game and deer and enjoyed his hunting time with his family. Bill was a life-long member of St. Patrick’s Church where he was a trustee for many years. Bill was a great story-teller and could entertain for hours anyone who would listen.

Mass of Christian Burial and a celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Friday, November 21, at 11:00am, with visitation one hour prior to Mass, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 19921 Nightingale Street NW, Cedar, MN 55011. Interment at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery.
