

John J. McDonnell, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on June 18, 1930, John was a long-time resident of Amityville, NY, and a devoted member of his community.
John was the cherished husband of 68 years to Mary (Fullan), and a loving father to Michael (Diana), Matthew (Dawn), Maura Howard (John), Colin, and Joseph (Jeannie). He was the proud grandfather of eight grandchildren: Austin, Matthew, Annalise, Madeline, Lily, Camille, John, and Daniel.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Kathleen Quinton, Margaret Wolf, and Patricia Smith, but leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A retired member of Local #1 Elevator Constructors Union of NY, John also retired from Otis Elevator, NY. He remained an active member of the Local #1 Retirees Association of Long Island, and his commitment to service extended beyond his career. He generously volunteered his time with organizations such as Rebuilding Together and Friar Suppliers, further showcasing his heart for helping others.
John’s life will be honored at a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 9:00 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption RC Church in Copiague, NY. Interment will follow at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury, NY.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at D’Andrea Bros. Funeral Home, 99 Oak Street, Copiague, NY, on Friday, March 14, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM.
