Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend; and devoted member and Ex-Captain of Vigilant Company of the Copiague Fire Department.
Lou was born in Brooklyn to his late parents, Philip and Theresa. After marriage to his bride of 63 years, Eileen (nee Boehm), they made their home first in Elmont, L.I., then came to Copiague in 1972, where they raised their family. Lou was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran. After his service, he worked in the Elevator construction industry, finally retiring from the I.U.E.C.
A community-spirited man, Lou gave much of his time to many local endeavors. Over the years he was a member of the Elks Club and the Lindenhurst Auxiliary Police; but most will remember him for his devotion to the Copiague Fire Department for over 40 years, where he served in many roles, including Parade Official; leading up to his service as now Ex-Captain of Vigilant Co.
Back at home, he enjoyed watching the Yankees on television, and hunting. Lou loved being with his family, and when the grandchildren were younger he enjoyed taking them bowling.
Lou is predeceased by his wife, Eileen and his brother, Philip. Surviving are his children – his daughter, Angel Donaghy; his son, Dean Demino and his daughter-in-law, Alice; and his son, Guy Demino; his grandchildren – Samantha, D.J., and Alyssa; his great-grandchildren – Henry and Blakely; and his brother, Salvatore.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.DAndreaBrosFuneral.com for the Demino family.
Family and friends will gather for visitation on Wednesday, December 28th, from 2:00 – 4:30 and 7:00 – 9:30 p.m. at the Copiague Fire Department Headquarters. Firematic Services will take place at 8:00 p.m. On Thursday morning, December 29th, at 11:00 am, a Funeral Prayer Service will be offered, and we will depart for the cemetery by 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
