I was a longtime neighbor of the Cooper family.Was privileged to know them last conversation I had with Mike he was very concerned over our families well being after my grandfathers death.Mike was a genuine class act.I recently found out about his passing.My condolences to Michelle and the rest.Saddened but glad to have known the entire Family.

Always cool under pressure, motivated towards justice, and committed to public service, Michael's poise, grace, and humility is already sorely missed here.

When I think of Michael Cooper, I remember his smile, unpretentious intellect, and gentle leadership style. His smile made me smile and remember who I strive to be, one who is loving and caring to those I meet. Whether we ran into each other on the elevator, or I came into his office to pickup the beeper bag, Michael always paused to ask, “how are you Kayonia?” Not only did he look up from his desk to ask, but he would look at me with genuine interest and concern as he waited to hear my reply. Then he would respond. Our conversations were always brief, but meaningful. Michael didn't allow the busyness of our days to rush or prevent him from demonstrating care for others, while still doing a stellar job. He is sorely missed. 

May you rest in peace Michael.  My sympathy to the entire Cooper family. You are continually in my thoughts and prayers. May you be comforted by the wonderful memories of your dear Michael, and may God continue to strengthen you during this difficult time.

Michael was a friend and mentor.  I think about him everyday and miss him terribly.  He was a true gentleman and a wonderful human being.

I first met Micheal when he started out in the BXDA and he was assigned to my bureau.  As a "senior" ADA, I had the privelege of helping him with the first case he presented to the grand jury. I knew then, that Micheal would become a rising star in the DA's office. Michel proved my prediction to be true. My deepest sympathies to all of Michael's family.

I was an intern for Michael at the DA's Office when I was in high school and he was one of the reasons I became an ADA.  I was honored to work for such a wonderful boss in Trial Bureau A34.  Michael was a true gentleman both at work and at basketball games when we would root against each other for our rival colleges.  Michael inspired all who worked for him to be better attorneys and people by his example.

He was a kind a gentle soul.  I worked in a different bureau, but I appreciated his presence even from afar and he will be missed.

Michael was my neighbor and a mentor to me when I obtained my paralegal certification. He helped me get my foot in the door to an internship at the BXDA. I am forever grateful and honored to have known such a wonderful, kind, polite gentlemen! You'll will be missed on the fifth floor at Netherland Gardens and at the Bronx DA's office.

I will never forget Michael, for he was one of the nicest human beings I have ever worked with during my law enforcement career.  My heart goes out to his family during this difficult time, but take comfort in knowing that Mike was loved by anyone who had the priveledge of knowing him.  RIP Mike!

Michael was my boss and friend for several years at the DA's office.  I have incredibly fond memories of sitting across from his table...yes he sat at his table and not his desk...and discussing cases as well as life in general. He was a real gentleman, a true team leader and above all an excellent soul.  His smile could light up Yankee Stadium. I pray that his wife and family find peace during this difficult time and the strength of God to get them through. My heartfelt, deepest sympathies.

You were such a "Gentle Man" you understood the purpose of ones life and lent out a hand most times two every time when needed. My daughter and I were honored to have had you in our lives. Because of you we had a whole lot of peace in our day to day.

I have many fond memories of Michael.  Mike was a very private person who did not love big social scenes.  He would arrive at the BXDA Bureau Christmas party and dissappear in the blink of an eye (who was that masked man?).  But before he left he was sure to leave a $100 bill on the bar to buy his friends a drink.  He was always thinking of others.  He will be missed.

Michael had a smile that would light up both his face and yours.  It was a priviledge to be able to say he was my friend.  Rest in peace.

Michael Cooper was as gentle as a Lamb. Always very poised and soft spoken. It was my Great pleasure to have had the opportunity to be in his presence and the  honor of working with him.  God has taken another angel from us because he needed him in his kingdom.  My condolences to Mrs. Cooper and family.

Mr. Cooper, "Please call me Michael", was the consumate gentleman who was always smiling and would gladly share that smile with you. Thank you so much Michael Cooper for the beautiful photo of me with my son that you delivered to my office just days after the office picnic in 2007.  I have the photo framed in my office.  Every day I look at the photo, not only do I remember the joy of that moment with my son, but I am also reminded of your selflesness, patience, devotion and your smile.  Thank you, you are missed.

Michael Cooper was a beloved boss, patient mentor, and favored colleague.  A true gentlemen.  One of a kind.  What a foot print he left on this world.

I was doing panel interviews with Michael when we came across a young man who didn't do very well.  A few minutes after the candidate left, Michael made the effort to go downstairs and find him so he could offer him some advice for his other job interviews.  Even though he barely knew this young man, Michael still took the time to be a guiding light for him, just as he was for all of us. Rest in peace.

I worked with Michael for years.  He was always a true professional and always kind and caring to everyone.  Even when I had to call him at 2 a.m., he was always sunny and helpful.  I will always miss his presence in the Bronx DA family.  Peter Coddington
