Barbara Ann (Fogarty) Augustine

Barbara was born to Michael and Gretta Fogarty on Feb. 14, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY. She grew up in a small apartment with her 5 brothers, Michael, Jack, Kevin, Peter and Robert. She was raised in a Catholic Irish family that stressed faith and school. She remembered her father being a wonderful story teller. She described her mother as a loving religious disciplinarian. She attended Catholic schools from grade school through college. As a teenager, she was quiet but had a best friend named Pat who was the life of the party. She played basketball and field hockey in high school. Her favorite songs were by Joni James and Frank Sinatra. She LOVED to dance and taught her brother Peter how to do the lindy and the fox trot.

Barbara and Joe married on Sept 10, 1978. They moved from Valley Stream NY to Coppell Texas in 1982. Barbara started an in-home daycare and over the next 30 years became “Grandma” for many special children. On any given day, you could walk into their home and find toys, high chairs and little girls in hair rollers getting pretty for pick up time. Barbara loved these children as if they were her own and cherished the time she spent with them and their families.

Barbara enjoyed spending her free time with her “red hat” friends at Bunko, Keno and birthday lunches. She loved shopping with Carol and Betty. Barbara enjoyed cooking and will be remembered for her lasagna, sausage and peppers, and banana pudding. She treasured her time with her grandchildren, Brian, Maddy, Jack, Danielle and Amanda.

Barbara was a blessing and a gift to many and she will be greatly missed. We are thankful God gave her to us for the time we had and allowed us to be loved by her.
