

Cindy Louise Briscoe, 80 of Irving, TX passed away peacefully on February 19, 2024. She was born in Bentonville, Arkansas on September 25, 1943, to Rodney Sheridan Gillihan and Maree Gurtrude Burnett.
Cindy was preceded in death by husbands, Edward Rowland and Adrian Briscoe, her parents, Rodney Gillihan and Maree (Burnett) Gillihan, her brothers, Jeff Gillihan and George Gillihan, and her son, Michael Rowland. She is survived by her sister, Susan Ryan, daughters Terry Comstock (Roger), Tracy Samuelson (Dave), nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
Cindy attended high school in Iceland where her father was stationed and moved back to the states to finish out high school and graduate in Reisterstown, Maryland. While in Maryland, she met and married Edward (Ned) Rowland, moved to Saratoga Springs, New York and had three children, Michael, Terry, and Tracy. Cindy and her children became lifelong Texans in 1968 after moving to the Rio Grande Valley.
Cindy worked for the Social Security Administration for 35years. She retired in 2009 as the regional director of the Southwest Social Security Teleservice Centers in Dallas, New Orleans, Oklahoma City and Albuquerque.
Cindy was a lifelong seamstress beginning at age 12 making her own doll clothes, progressing to making clothes for herself and her children, to being the family wedding dress maker. She enjoyed reading, watching the Olympics, camping with her family, road trips, brain teaser puzzle books, crossword puzzles and family get togethers with great food and loud and competitive games.
Cindy was a three-time cancer survivor. During each battle, she showed great courage and strength as she overcame her illnesses. Her strength and resilience were inspirational to all of us. She was well loved, looked up to, and she will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, February 24, 2024,at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 615 N. MacArthur Blvd. in Coppell, TX. Cindy is being interred on February 24, 2024, at Rolling Oaks Memorial Gardens at 400 Freeport Parkway in Coppell directly following the funeral services. Arrangements are being handled by Rolling Oaks Funeral Home in Coppell, TX.
