Douglas Valenski passed away on May 18, 2026, at home surrounded by his family. Ever the provider, he ended this life finally relying on others with the love and care of his wife and children as well as the graces of our Lord.
A brilliant and witty man, the only thing that Douglas devoured more than new knowledge was his beloved Taco Bell. His intellect, in conjunction with his drive, led Doug to give his family the life he always wanted them to have. One of comfort, and free from the stresses he knew in his own childhood.
Doug loved traveling the world to see new places and Formula One races. For over 40 years, Doug enjoyed reading and collecting comic books. This collection is only rivaled by the many records acquired through his life. Wherever Doug was, you could have confidence that a track was playing loud and on repeat in his head, if not for all the home to hear. Both interests are carried on by his daughter, Kristen, who surveyed the comic stores with Doug and has an eerily similar taste in music.
His greatest prides in life were the marathons he completed, his acceptance and subsequent graduation with a Masters in Business Administration from Berkeley and paying for his children’s college. The family’s greatest points of pride in him were his unwavering commitment to his values, his ability to accomplish whatever he set out to do, and the grace and courage with which he faced his last years.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Valenski, children, Kristen Justus, Patrick Valenski, and grandchildren, Sean Justus, Joseph Justus, Colette Valenski, Aurelia Valenski, and Blaise Valenski.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM on Friday, May 29th at St. Ann Catholic Parish, 180 Samuel Blvd, Coppell, TX 75019. Immediately following burial at Rolling Oaks Cemetery, 400 Freeport Pkwy, Coppell, TX 75019.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital. Also, to treat yourself to a cheesy gordita crunch.
