

Weaver, Gene, 87, passed away on May 28, 2014 in his Irving home. He was born on February 06, 1927 in Birmingham, Alabama. Gene was raised in Memphis, Tennessee where he went on to attend Memphis State University where he served as Vice President Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. Gene was a veteran of the U. S. Army and was stationed in Japan and Germany. Gene moved to Dallas in 1956 where he met the love of his life Becky Gilliland at Morrell Avenue Baptist Church. Gene and Becky were married in January of 1957 and later moved to Irving in 1961. Gene was an engineer who worked for Chance Vault, Collins Radio, Texas Instruments and retired from Dahlgren Manufacturing after many years of service. Gene was a member of Plymouth Park Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Becky Weaver; three children, Don Weaver and wife, Benita; Martha Brown and husband, David; and Sandra Curry and husband, Scott; six grandchildren, Austin Brown, Meridith Weaver, Grant Brown, Allison Curry, Mitch Curry and Madison Weaver; and extended family, Bob and Shari Davis.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 10:00AM in the Restland Coppell Chapel with Curtis Conatser officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to The First Tee, a golf youth development organization at www.thefirsttee.org or it may be mailed to The First Tee, 425 South Legacy Trail, St. Augustine, Florida 32092.
