

A devoted husband, loving father and proud grandfather, Gary Roland Carey (“GG”) passed away on Friday, March 6, 2015 from a battle with cancer. He was born on December 5, 1940, in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Sam Houston High School and received Bachelors, Masters and PhD degrees in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M University. He spent 25 years of his business career as a leader in Systems Engineering Consulting at Electronic Data Systems (EDS) and then worked as an IT consultant for Bank of America. In his retirement years, Gary was the Club Manager at the Denton Bridge Studio. Gary was an avid bridge teacher and player, achieving Life Master Status in 2008 and Silver Life Master status in 2011. He also had a passion for stamp and coin collecting, doing crossword puzzles, reading, gardening and playing games with his grandkids. He will forever be remembered for his closing acts at the New Braunfels Champions Park Talent Show and his love for making others laugh.
GG is preceded in death by his parents Dorothy Barrett and William Carey and his brother David Carey. He is survived by his wife, Judith Douglass Carey, to whom he was married to for 52 years; son, Brian Douglass Carey and his wife Sarah Mueller Carey; daughter, Tracy Carey McMillan and her husband Shane McMillan; grandchildren, Reid Douglass McMillan (9), Wesley Cait McMillan (6), Gillian Shaw Carey (9), Truman Douglass Carey (6); siblings, Carolyn Conant and Robin Driscoll.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, March 14, 2015 in the Rolling Oaks Funeral Home Chapel. A reception will be held following the service.
